The Gabriola Sounder is an independently-owned, free distribution, weekly community newspaper, serving Gabriola, Mudge, and Decourcy islands with local news and advertising.
2016 marks the 25th year of publication for the Sounder.
The paper has been owned since 2008 by publisher Sarah Holmes, with her husband and editor Derek Kilbourn.
Sarah is a fourth-generation community newspaper owner/publisher. She currently sits as a Director on the board of the BC & Yukon Community Newspapers Association (BCYCNA).
The Sounder is on stands Tuesday mornings, and is delivered to every mailbox on the island through Canada Post.
In 2013 the Sounder won Gold for Advertising Design at the Ma Murray BCYCNA Community Newspaper Awards.

The office can be found at the east end of Madrona Marketplace and is open Tuesday to Thursday, 9:30 to 4:30; and on Friday from 9:30 to noon.
